Wendy

Learning Specialist/Executive Functioning Coach

M.Ed

Hello! My name is Wendy, and I am a Learning Specialist and Executive Functioning Coach. I have worked with children of all ages for over 20 years as a teacher, tutor, and Learning Specialist. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from California State University, Northridge,  and went on to earn a Master’s in Education from Pepperdine University. I hold a California  Multiple Subject teaching credential and have taught at several independent schools, including  Hollywood Schoolhouse, Pilgrim, Curtis, and John Thomas Dye. As an Educational Specialist  and trained Executive Function coach, I work with students one-on-one and regularly read  and interpret testing reports, conduct informal assessments, address remedial math, reading  and writing needs, and communicate with parents and any therapists, educators, and faculty  that may be part of a student's support team.

One of my greatest strengths is my ability to create engaging and stimulating lessons that  inspire curiosity and critical thinking. I have a knack for incorporating various teaching  methods and resources to cater to individual learning styles and make learning informative  and enjoyable. I meet students where they are academically, socially, and emotionally, ensuring that needs are met effectively. I encourage students to strive for excellence while  providing the necessary support and encouragement along the way.

I trained in many programs, including Singapore Math and Cognitively Guided Instruction,  Lucy Calkins Reader's and Writer's workshops, Handwriting Without Tears and Fountas and  Pinnell. I recently attended the Independent Educational Consultants Association Summer Institute for professional development.

In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors swimming, hiking, cooking, and traveling with my  husband. I am a native Angeleno and continuously discover hidden gems throughout this  sprawling metropolis.
