Tessa

Educational Therapist

B.Ed, ECE, MFA, ET

Hi! I’m Tessa, a dedicated educator and educational therapist with over twenty years of experience working in public schools, private schools, and early childhood settings. I hold a Master’s degree in Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia, where I also completed specialized coursework in Gifted Education. My work is grounded in a holistic approach to education, and I integrate differentiated instruction, current brain research, and child psychology to support the whole child.

I am especially passionate about working with gifted and twice-exceptional learners, as well as students with a wide range of learning profiles including dyslexia, processing disorders, ADHD, dyscalculia, and executive functioning challenges. I take pride in offering thoughtful, individualized support to both students and their families. My focus is always on empowering students, helping them build confidence, strengthen their learning identities, and thrive academically as well as emotionally.

Trained in the Orton-Gillingham method through the Institute of Multi-Sensory Education, I remain actively engaged in developing best practices that reflect integrated learning and the latest research in education. My goal is always to build on children’s strengths while supporting areas of challenge. In addition, I bring expertise in social-emotional development, supporting children who experience anxiety or emotional sensitivity, designing art-based curriculum and creative enrichment, and providing homeschool support and advocacy within school environments.

Whether your child needs foundational literacy support, math remediation, emotional guidance, or enrichment that nurtures their unique gifts, I bring deep experience, creativity, and compassion to every learning journey.
