Tammy

Learning Specialist

MA

I'm a dedicated Learning Specialist with 14 years of experience helping students thrive academically and build lasting confidence in themselves as learners.

My work centers on equipping students with the practical tools they need to manage their workload, stay organized, plan ahead, and approach challenges with a growth mindset.

Whether a student is struggling with task initiation, time management, homework completion, or test preparation, I meet them where they are and build a personalized toolkit that sticks. I have a particular passion for supporting students in upper elementary and middle school — a critical transitional stage where strong executive functioning, organizational habits, and independent study skills make all the difference heading into middle school and beyond.

My background spans TK through 6th grade across a wide range of instructional settings — classroom teaching, reading and math intervention, outdoor education, home-hospital instruction, and curriculum development. This breadth gives me a uniquely whole-child perspective on how students learn and what gets in the way. I'm a trained Title Reading Teacher specializing in reading and writing intervention, with expertise and training in structured literacy and phonics-based approaches including the Science of Reading, SIPPS, UFLI, Heggerty, and Orton-Gillingham.

I hold a Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential and a Master's degree in Teacher Leadership, with a strong foundation in both literacy and mathematics intervention. My sessions are grounded in explicit instruction, modeling, and supportive feedback — creating a safe space where students feel empowered to take risks, embrace mistakes, and see themselves as capable.

My ultimate goal is to send students into each school year — and ultimately, into life — with the skills, strategies, and self-belief to handle whatever comes next.
