Tamara
Educational Therapist
MA, ET
Hi! I’m Tamara. I am an Educational Therapist, Reading Specialist, and Certified Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner, and I work with students from early elementary through high school. My approach is warm, structured, and evidence-based, and I specialize in literacy, executive function, and academic support for students with diverse learning profiles.
I have extensive experience supporting learners with dyslexia, ADHD, dyscalculia, processing challenges, and other language-based learning differences. I blend structured literacy instruction (Wilson Reading System, Fundations, UFLI), multisensory math, and strategic executive function coaching to strengthen foundational skills while building confidence, self-awareness, and independence.
I’m a Los Angeles native and Buckley School alumna. I earned my B.A. in Economics from Barnard College of Columbia University and my Master’s in International Affairs from Columbia University. I later completed my Master of Arts in Teaching and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential at Pepperdine University. Before becoming an Educational Therapist, I spent seven years teaching elementary school at several independent schools in Los Angeles, where I deepened my understanding of child development, curriculum, and differentiated instruction.
I completed my Post-Master’s Certificate in Educational Therapy at UC Riverside and have additional training in the Science of Reading, Singapore Math, Writing Revolution, Social Thinking, RULER, and Zones of Regulation. In addition to my private practice, I serve as the Reading Specialist & Librarian at Briskin Elementary School, where I teach K–2 library classes and provide literacy support for students in grades 1–6.
I am also a certified Pilates instructor, which allows me to integrate mind-body awareness into my work and appreciate how movement, focus, and regulation support learning.
Known for my warm presence, high standards, and ability to connect authentically with learners of all ages, I am especially passionate about helping students understand themselves as learners and develop the tools they need to thrive in school and beyond.
