Aloha Kākou!
(Hello Everyone)
My name is Sherwin, and I’m an educator with over 15 years of experience helping children and their families build confidence and thrive both in and out of the classroom.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with students from Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade, crafting personalized learning plans that meet them exactly where they are. As an Education Specialist, Learning Specialist, and Academic/Executive Functioning Coach, I specialize in supporting students with a wide range of learning differences—including ADHD, dyslexia, processing challenges, executive functioning weaknesses, and more.
I believe deeply that every child can succeed when they are understood and supported in the ways they learn best. Whether I’m teaching foundational reading and math skills to early learners, helping a student organize their thoughts into writing, or building strategies for time management and study habits, my goal is always to make learning feel accessible, rewarding, and even fun.
In my time supporting K–4 students in both general education and intervention settings, I’ve seen how early academic support can create lifelong confidence. I was humbled to be named Teacher of the Year for Culver City Unified School District during the height of the COVID pandemic, a time that called for creativity, empathy, and strong home-school collaboration. I introduced tools that helped students with diverse needs stay engaged in virtual learning, adapt to change, and continue progressing academically.
Whether a student needs help decoding multisyllabic words, strengthening working memory, managing transitions, or developing the self-advocacy to speak up for what they need, I bring patience, structure, and joy to every session.
My mission is simple: to turn frustration into curiosity and uncertainty into confidence—especially for students who haven’t always felt seen in traditional classroom settings.
Mahalo nui loa for taking the time to get to know a little more about me!
(Thank you so much)
