Sarah
Learning and Reading Specialist
Mild/Moderate SPED Teaching Cred, M.Ed.
Hello there, I'm Sarah!
My career in education spans over two decades. My background encompasses many different roles; however, I have only worked with neurodivergent individuals.
For several years, I worked as a reading specialist at one of the United States' premier independent schools, specializing in students with language disorders like dyslexia. My goal as an educator is to create a safe, challenging, and engaging learning environment for the individual learner.
Central to my approach to reading instruction has always been integrating structured literacy practices. In 2021, I fortified my expertise by earning certification in the Orton-Gillingham approach. This valuable addition complements my existing arsenal of curriculums, including Seeing Stars and Visualizing and Verbalizing. In addition to reading support, I also work with students who have math, executive functioning, and written expression challenges.
Beyond my teaching role, I am a print-based artist and illustrator that exhibits nationally and internationally. My creativity enriches my work as an educator and allows me to connect with students profoundly.
I have seamlessly integrated my experience as a Learning Specialist and Artist into diverse educational settings. My commitment to creating a safe, engaging, and intellectually challenging learning environment underscores her dedication to supporting the cognitive growth of twice-exceptional and neurodivergent students.
