Rachel

Educational Therapist

MSW, ET

Hello, I’m Rachel. I have been a Learning Specialist for almost ten years in the Los Angeles area where I live with my husband and three children.  After graduating from UCSD with a Bachelor’s in History, I attended Howard University in Washington, DC where I received my Master’s in Social Work. I eventually found that my true calling was working one on one with students with learning difficulties, and went back to school to get my certificate in Educational Therapy from UC Riverside. I have also been trained in the Wilson Reading System which is a systematic, focused, intensive literacy program that helps those with dyslexia (and struggling readers) become confident in their decoding and encoding skills.

As part of my portfolio in working to better the lives of all children, I was the Director of Inclusion at a summer camp for many years, supporting children of all ages to be a part of an experiential learning environment. Currently, I primarily work with children in Kindergarten through eighth grade in fortifying reading skills and remediating math. I help support students in their learning journeys by teaching them how to become independent and successful students. I hope to empower my students to understand their learning profiles, to advocate for themselves, and to grow into the best version of themselves.
