Maxwell

Executive Functioning Coach & Math/Science Learning Specialist

M.Ed

Hello, my name is Max, and I have been tutoring/mentoring/coaching students for the past 5+ years. I grew up in Northridge, and graduated from Granada Hills playing football, baseball, and track. I then continued my educational and football career at the University of Puget Sound. During my time in college, I earned All-American and All-Academic Team honors, and graduated with a B.S. in Exercise Science.

After graduating, I started to expand my support services for students and have been working with middle and high schoolers of all abilities and levels in mostly math and science-based subjects. During this period, I also interned with the Seattle Seahawks in their Strength and Conditioning Department and with various physical therapy clinics around the Tacoma area. In order to further my education and to gain more tools to work with neurodivergent learners, I attended Mount Marty University and graduated with a Master’s in Education: Emphasis in Coaching and Leadership.  During my time in graduate school, I worked as a GA/TA, and I was responsible for teaching Exercise Science classes such as Exercise Physiology, Anatomy, and Motor Learning; I was also the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach of three scholarship programs, Basketball, Cheer/Dance, and Track.

During my time as a college instructor and tutor, I have worked with students across a spectrum of backgrounds, abilities, and needs, including students with learning differences, executive functioning challenges, and disorders of written expression in multiple subjects. Furthermore, my time as a college instructor allowed me to gain  significant experience in teaching and assisting students who came to America for college and had language barrier difficulties with communication and comprehension. In fact, I enjoy identifying any barriers to success and helping students overcome them with a belief in their unique abilities.

In my off time, I enjoy coaching and engaging in athletic performance training, as well as tending to my aquariums!
