Max

Educational Therapist & EF Coach

Hey there, My name is Max, and I bring a specialized background in supporting the learning goals of students with diverse needs --particularly those navigating learning differences such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, dyslexia, and executive functioning challenges. After earning my B.A. in Psychology, I began working closely with neurodiverse students, helping them build the skills and confidence needed for academic success. I also served as a behavioral assistant for young adults with autism, where I focused on strengthening executive functioning skills critical to their independence and self-determination.

Motivated by a passion for both language and learning, I later earned an MFA in Creative Writing and have spent the past two decades teaching English at the college level. In that time, I’ve directed a campus writing center and led faculty workshops aimed at improving classroom support for students with ADHD and those enrolled in Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS). I’ve also had the privilege of tutoring military veterans with PTSD, helping them sharpen their reading comprehension and craft compelling university entrance essays.

I have also completed professional coursework in Educational Therapy through UC Riverside, allowing me to bring together my experience in psychology, teaching, and therapeutic learning support. I strive to meet students where they are—academically and emotionally—and to help them find strategies that work with their unique learning profiles.

Outside of education, I’m an anthologized and award-winning author, and I host a literary reading series while organizing an annual book festival in Long Beach. Whether I’m working with a reluctant reader or a college-bound essay writer, my goal remains the same: to help students become the authors of their own lives—confident, capable, and ready to shape their own stories.
