Maggie
Learning Specialist
MFA
Hi! I’m Maggie. I received my Master’s degree of Fine Arts in Writing from the University of Southern Maine, and I hold an English teaching credential for the state of California. As a Youth Development Specialist for the United States Peace Corps, I collaborated with community partners in rural Peru to develop and implement literacy programs, teacher trainings, and extracurricular clubs. During this time, I taught art, English, and personal health to 3rd-8th graders.
As a Learning Specialist trained in programs such as Lindamood-Bell and Orton-Gillingham, I have a wide range of experience creating individualized lesson plans for students of all ages and abilities (including those with dyslexia, ADHD, dyscalculia, processing disorders, and more) and communicating student progress to parents and teachers. As an educator, I support students in writing, AP English, reading remediation, math, and Executive Functioning skills. I am a trained Executive Function coach and I help students build their skills in planning, prioritization, and overall task management.
Due to my range of experiences in the field of education, I am well-versed in supporting students with learning differences and various learning styles.
