Leemor

Learning Specialist / Executive Functioning Coach/IEP & 504 Consultant

M.S. Special Education

Hi there! My name is Leemor (otherwise known as Mrs. B. by many students and families), and I am a Learning Specialist and Special Education Teacher. I was born to be a teacher! I absolutely love teaching and knew I would from a very young age. I have over 25 years of teaching experience in both General and Special Education classrooms and tutoring settings. I have worked across every age, grade, and various demographics, specializing in Mild/Moderate instruction across all levels/grades. My natural gift to tap into each and every type of diverse learner is at the core of my record for achieving phenomenal academic success for each student across any age, learning style, or grade, in both General and Special Education settings.

I acquired my Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Arizona State University in Child Psychology in 1996, graduating Cum Laude and with recognition from the Psi Chi Honors Society. A few years later, I decided to pursue being a Mild/Moderate Special Education Teacher through National University, earning Summa Cum Laude recognition, and spent the next 25+ years as a Special Education Teacher part and full-time. To enrich my knowledge base, I also acquired my Master’s degree in Special Education from National University.

I have taught several different Special Education classes through my years of teaching, which include: elementary, middle, and high school Special-Day classes, Special Education classes (primarily in Math and Language Arts), and Co-Taught General and Special Education classes. My niche is teaching middle school grade levels in both Math and Language Arts, but I have worked with all ages and grades and am very familiar with that curriculum. As a Special Education Teacher, I am very familiar with the current state standards and school common core K-12 curriculum, resources, and digital platforms. Through all of my job experiences at several local school districts, I gained such knowledge and expertise across almost every K-12 grade level as a Special Education Teacher, responsible for aspects such as lesson planning for the diverse learner, teaching to all learning modalities, creating modified curriculum, and acting as a Case Manager coordinating IEPs and assessments. All the while, I always made sure to create an extremely positive, warm, and welcoming learning environment where all of my students felt valued and a part of our classroom community.

My experience includes working with those who have ADHD, ADD, ASD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, executive functioning challenges, and more. I have also worked very closely with most IEP team members and related service providers such as school administrators, psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, behavioral therapists, and child advocates. I also possess extensive expertise, experience, and knowledge with IEP and 504 Plans. My deep understanding and skill in assessing students' learning needs and identifying appropriate supports are truly exceptional. I am also well-equipped to provide comprehensive support to parents in analyzing academic and psychological assessments of their students, as well as in the development and drafting of IEP and 504 Plans. Additionally, I offer expert assistance in IEP/504 consultation.

I have a plethora of letters of recommendation from school administrators and parents and have saved every note, picture, and letter given to me from my amazing students through the years. I especially love working with all types of students because it is so rewarding to know the amazing difference I can make for that student and their family. My goal is for each of my students to feel valued, comfortable, and welcomed into the learning process, positively supporting them to feel capable and confident to achieve great academic and social success!

I currently live in Calabasas with my three boys and know our local community and schools very well. I love to sing, dance, and listen to music (particularly 80’s music), go to the movies (love Marvel!), and watch college and pro sporting events (particularly football and basketball, Go Bruins and the 49ers!). I am originally a California girl and love our weather!
