I am passionate about helping students with diverse learning profiles discover their unique strengths and develop strategies that work for them! Throughout my educational career, I've had the privilege of working with students across the neurodivergent spectrum, including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, auditory processing differences, visual processing challenges, various learning disabilities, minimally verbal, and much more.

I believe that every student has the ability to learn and thrive when given the right tools and support. My approach is rooted in the belief that differences in learning aren't deficits, rather they're simply different ways of processing and interacting with the world. Whether a student struggles with executive functioning skills like organization and time management, needs support with academic content, or requires specialized strategies to navigate sensory or processing challenges, I work collaboratively to build their confidence and independence.

I utilize multisensory strategies to support students in learning across all academic content. I am trained in the Wilson Reading System that is based in phonological coding research and Orton-Gillingham principles. I have extensive training and experience in Structured Literacy that supports strengthening students’ reading and writing skills. I am also trained in numerous math intervention programs like mCLASS, Number Worlds, and Imagine Learning. Over the years, I have worked with students in TK-8th grade in all subject areas who are from diverse backgrounds. Working with emergent bilingual students is something that brings me great joy as they make progress in their journey of language acquisition using given strategies and scaffolds in the classroom.

I earned my bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education & Special Education, with minors in Psychology and Teaching Language Learners from Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA. I then went on to LMU where I earned my masters degree in Reading Instruction & Urban Education, along with a Literacy Leadership Specialist Credential. I have worked in the Pico Union Community as both a general education and special education teacher for the past 6 years. Currently, I work as a special education teacher and case manager for 28 students with IEPs in a full inclusion setting. I also serve as our school’s special education lead and am responsible for supervising all special education teachers & behavior interventionists.

When I'm not working with students, I enjoy spending time in my community of Ocean Park, trying new restaurants, and reading. Being in nature is something that grounds me whether it be hiking, spending time at the beach, or paddleboarding.

I'm honored to be a part of your child’s journey toward becoming a more confident, lifelong learner who understands and celebrates their unique learning profile.
