Laura

Learning Specialist

M.AT, ESC

Hi, my name is Laura! I received my Bachelor of Arts in English from Northeastern University and my Master of Arts in Teaching from Tufts University. I hold an Education Specialist Instruction Credential along with a Single Subject Teaching Credential in English and Mathematics in both California and Massachusetts. I have a decade of experience as a lead classroom teacher for secondary students, most recently as an elementary Educational Specialist for the Arcadia Unified School District.

As an Educational Specialist, I work with students one-on-one, regularly read and interpret testing reports, conduct informal assessments, address remedial math, reading, and writing needs, and communicate with parents and any therapists, educators and faculty that may be part of a student's support team. I am trained in several remedial programs, including Wilson Just Words, Handwriting Without Tears, and TransMath. I also support students in English through the AP level and math through pre-calculus, including trigonometry.

I am also trained to support students as they prepare for the ISEE, ACT, and SAT, and have six years of experience with test prep. My hobbies and interests include singing with the Angel City Chorale, writing music, reading, and gardening.
