Jenny

Educational Therapist

MA, ET

Hi! I’m Jenny, and my life’s work has been about teaching all kinds of learners and transforming systems and policies to better meet their needs. My journey began with undergraduate studies in Learning and Behavior Disorders at University of Kentucky. I then moved to LA and continued studying at California State University Northridge to earn my B.A. With a desire to learn even more, I was accepted into Columbia University Teachers College, moved to New York, and earned my Master’s in Special Education. While there, I served as Special Education Director at Rosie and Harry’s Preschool, a center in Harlem for children in transitional housing, and as an in-home learning specialist throughout Manhattan and the Bronx. With a move back to LA, I later entered a post-Master's Educational Therapy Certification Program at California State University, Northridge.

My career has led me to many professional positions such as Special Education Clinical Coordinator at Westside Children’s Center, a place that specializes in foster/adopt services and teaching historically underserved students. There, I directed large scale community collaborations as the Director of First 5 LA’s Kindergarten Readiness Project and Director of First 5 CA’s Special Needs Project TLC. Now, as an Educational Therapist in private practice since 2007, I thoroughly enjoy working with students with various learning profiles, weaving in all of the specialized skills and tools I have accumulated to help students over the years.

I believe that all children can grow, learn, and amaze. Working 1:1, I love to discover the best way a child learns and present alternative, creative, novel, fun, and attention-grabbing curricula that remediate and enrich. I have extensive experience with ADHD, ASD, school and test anxiety, sensory processing, dyslexia, dyscalculia, behavior, reading/reading comprehension, writing, executive functioning skills, giftedness, twice exceptionality, processing, and memory skills.
