Jeanine

Learning Specialist and Educational Interventionist

BA&S, STC

Hello! I am Jeanine. Originally from the Midwest, I have been living in Los Angeles for almost seven years and been working in education for even longer. As a native Hoosier, I received my BAS in Journalism and Secondary Teaching Certification from Indiana University. I spent my final semester of college teaching English/ Language Arts and Journalism courses on the Navajo Reservation in Nenahnezad, New Mexico (where I also learned to cook fry bread and attended the Gathering of Nations!) I moved to California in 2015, and have been teaching, remediation tutoring, and providing targeted educational intervention for students with learning differences in a 1:1 setting ever since. I work with neurodiverse learners of all ages, including those with ADHD, executive functioning disorder, dyslexia, dyscalculia, processing disorders, written expression weaknesses, reading comprehension difficulties, and more. I am trained and experienced in several educational remediation and enrichment programs, including: Lindamood-Bell’s Visualizing & Verbalizing and Seeing Stars, Step Up to Writing, Read Naturally, Building Thinking Skills, Processing and Cognitive Enhancement (PACE), On Cloud Nine, and HearBuilder.

Reading and writing are my passions, and when I am not working with students, I am likely doing one or the other. In my spare time, I am a freelance writer and avid cryptoquip solver. I also have two ragdoll Siamese cats named Lewis and Clark. They are brothers from the same litter of kittens that serendipitously came into my life because of a flat tire (I've never been happier to have a flat tire).
