Fannie

Learning Specialist & EF Coach

M.Ed

Hi! My name is Fannie, and I am dedicated to supporting students with varied learning needs discover their strengths and develop strategies that make them feel confident and successful! I have been fortunate to work with students of various ages - early elementary through high school -  who have autism, ADHD, auditory processing challenges, dyslexia, dyscalculia, executive functioning needs, limited verbal communication, sensory processing differences,  twice-exceptional profiles, visual processing difficulties, and various learning disabilities.

I hold a deep conviction that every student can learn and succeed when provided with the right tools and support. I believe that differences are not weaknesses, rather distinct ways of interacting with and understanding the world. I collaborate closely with each student’s educational team and support system to foster confidence, independence, and growth by providing academic support, executive functioning coaching, and strategies tailored to individual processing differences and preferences.

I earned my bachelor's degree in Human Development and Psychological Services with minors in Spanish and Civic Engagement from Northwestern University. I then had the incredible opportunity to teach in Tenerife, Spain through a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship grant. Upon returning to the U.S., I got my Master’s degree in Urban Education with a Specialization in Literacy from LMU as well as my California Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential with Bilingual Authorization in Spanish. I have worked in Northern California as a dual-immersion (Spanish) classroom teacher as well as a general education teacher in Los Angeles. All of the schools I have worked in  follow an inclusion model. I have always enjoyed supporting my students with varied needs, including those with IEPs and 504 Plans, as well as emergent bilingual students, by providing differentiated instruction, scaffolds, and research-based strategies to support students in their acquisition of academic content, language proficiency, and life skills.

I utilize multisensory strategies to support students learning across all content areas. I have received comprehensive training in the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy equipping me with effective approaches to support students with reading and writing. These include the Wilson Reading Program (rooted in Orton-Gillingham principles), Read 180, UFLI,  Estrellitas,  Heggerty Phonemic Awareness, and Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI). I am also trained in several math programs including Imagine Learning, Japan Math, and Math 180.

I am committed to cultivating inclusive, engaging, and empowering learning experiences where all students can learn, grow, and thrive. I am honored to be part of your child’s educational team and look forward to working together to help them understand, celebrate, and maximize their unique learning profile.
