M.ET
Hi! My name is Daryl! I have been serving neurodiverse children in schools and in homes since 2010. I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Arizona State University in 2014. I worked as a lead teacher in fully inclusive 2nd and 3rd-grade classes before deciding to go back to school. In 2018, I received my Bachelor's in Communication Sciences and Disorders (speech pathology).
While I pursued this degree, I was working as a 4th-grade teacher, where I was able to implement various instructional practices and interventions to support my students with extensive support needs in accessing general education content.Â
Â
Since 2020, I have been working as a Learning Specialist while pursuing my Master's in Educational Therapy. In this role, I am able to support neurodiverse students with a range of learning profiles, including students who have dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ASD, ADHD, and more. While I specialize in literacy instruction and intervention, I also provide intervention across all academic subjects as well as executive functioning support. Aside from literacy intervention, math is my favorite area to provide intervention for!
Â
As a Learning Specialist, I aim to minimize barriers to student success and promote access to learning. I help students build their skills and their confidence both in and out of the classroom by academic and executive functioning goal setting, metacognition, and taking practical steps toward reaching both self-selected goals and psycho-educational goals established at the start of working together.
Â
I am trained in phonetic reading instruction as well as in Wilson Reading Systems programs including Wilson intervention, Fundations, and Just Words. Additionally, I am trained in and regularly implement Universal Design Learning, which emphasizes promoting access to learning through multiple means by capitalizing on student strengths and interests.
Â
I look forward to supporting your students and breaking down the learning process during our sessions together!
