Christie

Educational Therapist, NILD Standard Licensure

M.AT, ET

Hi, my name is Christie, and I have been an educator for over eight years. I am a former teacher and a certified NILD Educational Therapist. I earned my BA in English from UCLA and later received my Multiple-Subject Credential and Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of San Francisco.

I have always had diverse learners in my classes, and although teaching was very rewarding, I was disheartened to see some children fall through the cracks. I eventually decided to work one-on-one with students instead of teaching in a large classroom. It became my passion to help children who were facing learning challenges.  As an Educational Therapist, I assist students who struggle with executive functioning disorders, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders and other specific learning differences. My lessons are tailored to fit the unique needs of every student. By focusing on strengths and improving areas of weakness, students can become more competent and confident learners in the classroom and in life.

I truly believe that all students can succeed with the right tools, encouragement, and a growth mindset.  Educational Therapy has opened doors for many children, and I am thoroughly enjoying seeing the joy of measurable progress and improvement right before my eyes in sessions.

I live in Calabasas with my husband, son, and daughter.  In my spare time,  I enjoy playing the piano, traveling, hiking and spending time with my family and our dog, Toby.
