Charlene
Educational Therapist
M.Ed, ET
Hi, I’m Charlene—an educational therapist and credentialed teacher with over 29 years of experience helping children grow academically, emotionally, and socially. I earned my Master’s degree in Education from California State University, Northridge, and spent more than three decades teaching in California public schools. Over the years, I became known for supporting students with learning differences and for building strong, lasting partnerships with families. I’m also a proud member of the Association of Educational Therapists.
In my private practice, I specialize in working with children who face challenges such as dyslexia, ADHD, executive functioning difficulties, anxiety, depression, processing disorders, and seizure disorders. I blend structured, evidence-based instruction with individualized strategies to support organization, attention, and self-regulation. My goal is to help students not only learn effectively, but also feel confident and empowered as learners.
In addition to my work with students, I’m the author of A Circle of Friends and The Creative Adventures of the Brainstorm Buddies—books that explore emotional and academic challenges children often face but may not yet have the words to describe. These stories were inspired by my experiences working closely with students and families over the years. I’ve seen how storytelling can be a powerful tool for opening up important conversations and helping children develop self-awareness, confidence, and problem-solving skills.
My work has also taken me beyond the classroom. I’ve represented the U.S. in international curriculum projects and developed creative educational programs for children receiving medical treatment at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House. These experiences have only deepened my belief that learning and emotional growth should never stop—even during life’s most difficult moments.
Parents often tell me they’re looking for someone who truly sees and understands their child. I prioritize clear, consistent communication and collaborative planning so that we’re always aligned in supporting your child’s development. My mission is simple: to help every child believe they are capable, resilient, and ready to succeed—not only in school, but in life.
I look forward to partnering with you and your child.
