Catherine

STEM Learning Specialist & EF Coach

MS, IP Ph.D.

Hi, I'm Catherine! I have a BS in Human Biology and a minor in Psychology and Law from the University of Southern California. From my academic journey, I became acutely aware of the importance of individualized approaches to learning. Driven by a deep desire to make a difference in the lives of future generations, I joined Teach for America after graduation. I relocated to Connecticut, where I taught general science to middle and high school students at a juvenile detention center. Simultaneously, I pursued an MS in Education from Johns Hopkins University to further enhance my teaching skills.

Following the completion of my master's degree, I returned to California and joined South LA College Prep as the Founding 9th Grade Biology teacher. In my classroom, I focused on implementing differentiated learning strategies and devised innovative methods to ensure the success of all student groups in the classroom.

Currently, I serve as the Founding Assistant Principal of Student Services at South LA College Prep while pursuing a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Southern California. Outside of my administrative role, I find immense joy in tutoring, scaffolding executive functioning skills, and assisting students with their academic endeavors, particularly in Math and Science. I take pleasure in exploring diverse approaches to help students grasp challenging concepts and thrive academically.
