Caren
Educational Therapist
EdS, LS, MAEd, ET
Hi! My name is Caren and I have been working as a fully credentialed teacher for over 20 years. I have taught elementary, middle, and high school, in addition to teaching literacy to adults. Although I have taught a wide range of students, I mostly work with students with mild to moderate disabilities. I specialize in helping students with executive functioning challenges, as well supporting students in the area of literacy and math.
I knew I wanted to be a teacher from a very early age. I earned my undergraduate degree in Liberal Studies, with majors in English and Education. I hold two credentials in the state of California: a Multiple Subject Credential and an Education Specialist Credential. I earned an additional supplemental authorization to teach English and a Cross-cultural Language Development authorization attached to my credential. Additionally, I earned a Master's of Arts in Educational Administration. Knowing that I wanted to continue to build upon my work with students who have learning differences, I earned my Educational Therapy certificate. Not only do I enjoy teaching, I enjoy learning.
While holding a position as a Special Educator, I have also been the Special Education Department Chairperson at my school for many years. I enjoy working collaboratively with students, parents, and other professionals in the field of education.
When working with students, I believe in utilizing testing data to target and improve areas of difficulty, all the while building upon areas of strength. Connecting to and building rapport with students is supremely important to me. I care about all students, and it is my goal to provide support, guidance, and instruction so families and students reach their educational goals.
