Cara
Educational Therapist
MA, ET
Hi, my name is Cara, and I am an Educational Therapist with a focus on reading proficiency, academic writing, and literacy skills. I hold an M.A. in Educational Therapy, and I completed my action research on the effects of social-emotional wellbeing in academic settings. I believe in a comprehensive, integrated approach to learning, building on strengths and creativity with an emphasis on developing skills and confidence. My goal is to support the whole student, helping them grow not just academically, but emotionally and socially as well.
I am passionate about equitable and supportive educational access. I have experience with IEP development and implementation, goal and accommodation recommendations, and client advocacy. I am trained in Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, Learning with Tears, Heggerty Phonemic Awareness Program, Universal Design for Learning, organization and executive functioning. I am a lifelong learner and I am constantly adding to my own toolbox to meet the needs of my exceptional clients.
I am a California native and I live in West Hills with my husband and our two children. I work part-time as a production manager for a middle school drama program, producing musicals such as Newsies and Mary Poppins.Â
I look forward to being a part of your child’s educational journey!
