Bea
Educational Therapist
ET
Hi! I’m Bea. I recently retired from teaching with over 25 years of experience in a private, progressive elementary school in Los Angeles (where I was born and raised.) I taught Developmental Kindergarten, and enjoy working with elementary-aged students to strengthen the stretches of their learning profiles. Having earned my Educational Therapy certificate from UC Riverside, my primary focus is now Educational Therapy. I am also trained in the Lindamood Bell instruction for reading and comprehension program. The learners that I work with have difficulties with reading decoding, fluency, and comprehension, as well as foundational math skills, ADHD, Executive Functioning, written expression, processing disorders, and more.
I value family, personal growth, and quality education. I keep up with my professional development by reading about the newest research in special education either through books or articles. I am a firm believer in teaching my students about adopting a growth mindset when it comes to learning, and incorporating mindfulness into my Educational Therapy sessions.
On a personal note, I am a mother of three girls and have been married to my husband for 23 years. I enjoy cooking, baking, having family game nights, camping, and watching movies with my family. I love working with Illuminate families, and sharing my specialized teaching skills with my amazing students.
