Alan
Educational Therapist

Hi there! My name is Alan, and I am an Educational Therapist. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Child and Adolescent Development from California State University, Northridge and received my Educational Therapy certification from University of California, Riverside. I spent many years volunteering at my church as a teacher for children’s ministries and as a mentor for the youth program. I have worked as a paraprofessional, tutor, and teacher.Â
After seeing school from these different perspectives, I quickly realized that education was not one-size-fits-all, and began my journey to equip myself to reach the students who have fallen through the cracks of a flawed system. I pursued my Educational Therapy certification while simultaneously tutoring students with various learning abilities, such as students with ADHD, ASD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia processing difficulties, reading weaknesses, disorders of written expression, executive functioning challenges, and more. I also host private summer school programs to help students keep their minds sharp while on break.Â
My hope is to build up a student to become an independent learner. Educational Therapy is ultimately a means to an end, where the end is when the client is able to use their acquired skills to navigate their way through a system of learning not made with them in mind. My goal for my career is to make education accessible to students on an individual level.Â
