Alex
Educational Therapist & EF Coach
MA, ET
Hi! I am a devoted educator and lifelong learner committed to building upon the unique strengths of each student to help them reach their academic goals.Â
I find meaning in working with all types of learners and supporting students with ADHD, ASD, visual/auditory processing disorders, executive functioning challenges, LDs in written expression and reading, as well as anxiety and depression. I bring a deep passion for supporting students in the Humanities and fostering critical thinking and executive functioning skills.Â
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a Master of Arts in teaching from the University of San Francisco. In addition, I earned my Certificate for Advanced Study in Educational Therapy from California State University, Northridge, and I am a certified Educational Therapist and a member of the Association of Educational Therapists. I have more than two decades of experience working in student support services and also as a writing coach, advisor, and English teacher in higher education and independent schools in California. In addition to working with Illuminate, I am currently the middle and high school learning specialist, supporting neurodivergent students and providing professional development for teachers.Â
When I am not busy working with students, I can be found playing tennis with my spouse, hiking with my golden retriever, or cheering on my daughters on the soccer pitch.
