Academic Coach
We are looking to fill an immediate opening for a full-time or part-time Learning Specialist/Academic Tutor.
MUST LIVE IN LOS ANGELES.
We are seeking tutoring and academic coaching candidates in both Santa Monica and Calabasas with a passion for helping students achieve success in middle school, high school, and beyond. Through in-home sessions, academic coaches and tutors will help students develop the comprehension of coursework, study skills and work habits that students need to fit into the “box” of school. They will act as a resource, assist students with day to day academic tasks, short and long-term projects, how to study and what to study, help them manage their time, and act as an advisor when it comes to what they will need in order to best function in and outside of school. Academic coaches and tutors will need to be analytical, organized, collaborative, and possess the desire to motivate and scaffold students with organizational difficulties. At least five years of experience with students with learning differences preferred.
Academic Coach/tutor Responsibilities:

Building rapport with students- often middle school aged and beyond.

Helping students identify strengths and weaknesses.

Assisting students with setting their academic goals.

Tutoring students with learning differences in a variety of subject matter.

Developing student habits and other skills to ensure their success.

Analyzing data and tracking student progress towards goals.

Connecting students with other resources, as needed.

Strong computer and communication skills are a must

Must hold a Masters in education or related field.

More education or experience in education or counseling may be preferred.

A desire to help students succeed.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Be willing to be part of a team. Frequently, coaches will need to communicate with members of a child’s team of specialists or allied professionals to ensure that everyone is working together toward the child’s academic success.

Be available during after-school hours (2:00-9:00 p.m) and at times on weekend days.

Previous teaching or tutoring experience is helpful, but not required. Special Education experience is a plus!

Must pass criminal background check.

Must have transportation for in-home sessions.
